I
am proud to introduce the fourth edition of The Orthopaedic Journal
at Harvard Medical School. The Journal has matured with each new
edition, enjoying continued success as a valuable and important
resource for the orthopaedic community, both within Harvard and
beyond.
Thanks
to the contributions from our very talented clinical staff and research
scientists, this years Journal continues a tradition of excellence.
I am indebted to these contributors for their hard work and willingness
to contribute despite their already demanding schedules. Their efforts
are a tribute to the exciting developments and innovations occurring
within orthopaedics.
The
Journal would not be possible
without the exceptional efforts of my co-editors: Don Bae, Conrad
Wang, Brandon Earp and Raj Ahluwalia. I thank each one for their
hard work and dedication throughout the publication process. A special
thanks to Diane Sheehan for her tremendous assistance with all aspects
of The Journal.
In addition, I would like to thank Dr. Herndon and the Executive
Committee for their guidance and support.
Furthermore,
I would like to thank our numerous advertisers and sponsors whose
contributions and donations are critical in ensuring the continued
publication of The Journal.
In these times of economic restraint, their support demonstrates
a commitment to orthopaedic research and education.
We
are dedicating this edition of The
Journal to Dr. Henry Mankin. Dr.
Mankin has had an extraordinary career in orthopaedics and has been
a pioneer in the field of orthopaedic oncology. His accomplishments
are only overshadowed by his dedication to excellent patient care
and the pursuit of orthopaedic knowledge. He is more than a brilliant
clinician and researcher he is a teacher, a mentor and a
friend.
As
a recent alumnus from the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Program,
I have truly enjoyed working on The
Journal. It has allowed me to
keep informed about the many exciting and diverse projects and events
that are going on throughout the Harvard orthopaedic community.
I hope you enjoy reading this edition of The
Orthopaedic Journal at Harvard Medical School
and hope you will support its continued publication.
Best
Regards,
Editor-in-Chief
