Letter from the Editor-In-Chief
Coleen S. Sabatini, MD, MPH
It is with great pleasure that we present you with the eleventh annual edition of the Orthopaedic
Journal at Harvard Medical School. Now entering our second decade, the Journal continues to be
a vehicle by which we can share with our greater community the amazing work of our faculty and
residents, and celebrate the events and experiences that we have shared together over this past year.
Since joining the editorial board of the Journal as a PGY-2, I have noticed that with each passing
year, and stricter industry regulations, the production of the Journal has become increasingly
challenging from a monetary perspective. I would very much like to acknowledge the tremendous
work of my co-editors Darren Lebl, John Kadzielski, Peter Vezeridis and Sang-Do Kim for their
tireless efforts in raising money, editing articles and collectively working to bring this years Journal
to fruition. Together, this group has worked diligently to put together a high-quality Journal that
showcases the incredible work being done in our hospitals and by our faculty, residents, fellows and researchers. The tireless work
of Diane Sheehan, our Business Manager, makes this Journal possible, and we thank her for her continued commitment to bringing
this Journal together each year for our Program. We would also like to thank the HCORP faculty and residents who have shared
with us their diverse work in orthopaedics, in the form of scientific articles or laboratory updates. Finally we would like to thank
the many Alumni of the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program and the HCORP Executive Committee who, through
monetary donations, have truly made the production of this Journal possible.
The resident editorial board has chosen to dedicate the 11th Annual Edition of the Journal to Dr. James Kasser. Dr. Kasser has
been a phenomenal teacher, role model, and friend to residents in this program for many years. He has been a dedicated advocate
for the educational component of our residency and truly leads by example in his interactions with his patients, their families, support
staff, and his colleagues. He demonstrates for us a successful balance between patient care, clinical research and teaching. A
mentor to many and a teacher to us all, Dr. Kasser is a person that we aspire to be like. He inspires us to be better in all facets of
our training as Orthopaedic Surgeons.
It has been an honor for me to serve as an editor for the Orthopaedic Journal at Harvard Medical School for the past four years
and a resident in this program. On behalf of all the editors of the Orthopaedic Journal at Harvard Medical School, I hope that you
enjoy the 11th edition of the Journal.
Sincerely,
Coleen S. Sabatini, MD, MPH
