Endless rain forced this year’s event from Saturday to Sunday and the participants from
the traditional outdoor airy venue to the indoors creating a warm and intimate environment for
the extended Harvard family to mourn summer’s passing and welcome the new academic year.
Dr. Thornhill welcomed all by name, and served up a bountiful buffet of steak, greens and fresh
fruit while individuals fought the passing hurricane’s humidity with cool beverages from the
bar. He supervised the children scaling the rocks in the backyard while the residents and their
spouses engaged in conversation out on the deck between rain showers. Everyone left stuffed
and grateful to be part of such a tremendous and giving residency program.
