1950'S

Jerome Waldman '50
plays tennis 5 days/week, the piano daily and sleeps well. The Journal interests him although he has been retired since '88.

Robert Vitt '51
who currently lives in Santa Barbara, CA has been enjoying retirement since 1985. He has been traveling around the US and also enjoys hunting. His secret to good health at age 82 is a daily 2-mile walk.

Forrest Maddix '55
is mostly retired except for being involved in impartial Orthopedic Exams.
 

1960'S

Joseph Dimon III '60
retired from Peachtree Orthopedic Clinic after 40 years of practice. He plays electric bass in band consisting of all doctors. It is called "UNMANAGED CARE" - they play for food! He also proudly shares with us the exploits of his grandchildren. His granddaughter graduated from Washington and Lee University, Lexington, VA and currently works in D.C. Other grandchildren are attending Williams College, Rich University and Davidson.

William Simon '68
currently practicing in Philadelphia recently published a new book titled "Conquering Chronic Pain After Injury".
 

1970'S

Marc Asher '72
retired from active practice in December 31, 2002 and continues as Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Kansas University Medical Center concentrating on academic pursuits.

Philip Bernstein '71
received the Distinguished Service Award from the San Mateo County Medical Society in 1991. He continues to travel with his wife, Arlene. They have recently returned from the jungles of Costa Rica and Panama. He is also active in sports such as squash and golf. He reports that he will retire when he is sufficiently defeated by HIPAA and the federal destruction of medical care.

Roger Williams '72
is currently working half time on the Board of Naples County Hospital. He enjoys sailing and biking. His daughter Heidi has a medical practice in Surinam and his son Conrad is a glass artist.

John Herring '73
recently received the Hune Award of the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America. He also is the editor of the most recent edition of Tachdjians Pediatric Orthopaedics. He recently had his first grandchild, Kate.

Robert Ennis '74
is currently semi-retired. He is no longer operating, but continues to practice office orthopedic surgery and also does consulting as President of Orthopedic Servicesspecializing in medical malpractice and disability cases. He holds the title of Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine. On the family front, there are now four generations of the Ennis family living in Weston, Fl and he enjoys celebrating family events together.

Howard Parker '74
retired from his Sports Medicine practice in November 2002. He was recently awarded the Robert J. Lahey Sports Medicine Man of the Year award by the Maine Center for Coaching Education at the University of Maine in Orono, ME.

John Davies '75
reports that his daughter Katharine Davies recently married Gregory Smith. He also had the following publication in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery: Winalski CS, Robbins MI, Silverman, SG, Davies, JAK. John Emans '75
currently is Director of the Division of Spinal Surgery at the Children's Hospital, Boston. He continues to enjoy a busy practice.

John Garrett '76
is the founding partner of Resurgens Orthopedics, a group practice of 75 orthopedic surgeons (2nd largest orthopedic group in the United States) providing point of service care throughout the Atlanta Metropolitan area.

David Seligson's '76
mother recently broke her hip. His dog Stanley died at age 20, and he currently has a new dog named Chipper. He is current president of the Kentucky Orchid Society.

Steven Manalan '78
was appointed Chairman, Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Alliance, Leominster, Massachusetts.

Jesse Jupiter '79
is busy racking up frequent flier miles. He traveled to 16 countries in 2002. He was recently named the Chairman of Education Board by the AO foundation and the Hansjorg Wyss Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School.
 

1980'S

Ira Posner '81
retired in August 2002.

Richard Santore '81
was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the San Diego Chapter of the Western Orthopedic Association. He is currently the treasurer of the California Orthopedic Association and vice-president of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (will be president in 2004). His son Chris was named the captain of the Torrey Pines High School football team and he also received the NFL Scholar-Athlete award in 2002. His daughter Lauren is writing a regular column for the Del Mar Times and is pursuing interests in oil painting and literature.

John Stinson '81
was recently appointed Assistant Adjunct Professor of Surgery at Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Bethesda, MD. His wife Susan Stinson, MD is director of Radiation Oncology at Suburban Hospital, Bethesda, MD. He is part of a team of 25 members, which includes orthopedic, ENT and plastic surgeons. He will make his seventh trip to Ecuador with this group.

Mark Haffenreffer '82
finished as President of Medical Staff Physician involved in Ryder Cup. He is currently in practice with four specialists in Boston area.

Thomas Hoerner '83
currently is in practice with Eric B. Arvidson and Crawford Campbell, both Harvard Orthopedic Alumni. His son Benjamin was awarded the Eagle Scout Award. His other son Joshua is enrolled in a graduate program in Chemistry at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Samuel Gerber '85
was the past president of the Massachusetts Orthopedic Association. In his free time he runs, lift weights and plays golf. He has three children. His oldest Alyson is a freshman at Connecticut College in New London, CT. Caroline, age 13, is in 7th grade and Adam, age 6, is in the 1st grade. His wife Lori has returned to graduate school at Brandeis University.

Deborah Stanitski '85
has a nonoperative practice as of 2000 due to 3/99 head injury.

Kenneth First '88
is an avid golfer. He recently toured major golf courses in Scotland and reports that he shot a 79 at Turnberry and an 80 at St. Andrews. He has three children, Jeffrey Lewis, Angela May and Stephen Joe. Stephen was recently chosen the co-captain of the Brewsh Academy ice hockey team in New Hampshire.

Robert Yancey '89
currently involved in setting up trauma management in Yangon and Mandalay in Myanmar. He was involved in the development of a pediatric femoral nail with Smith & Nephew.
 

1990'S

Richard Schwend '90
is a full member of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) as of 2002. As a traveling fellow with the SRS he traveled to Asia in 2001. He was deployed with the United States Air Force medical wing from November 2001-July 2002 as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was promoted to Colonel, USAF reserves in January 2002. His son Ryan is on the varsity crew team at the University of Wisconsin.

Nancy Cummings '91
currently lives in Maine with husband Michael, who is a stay at home dad. They have two wonderful children Zack (7) and Sarah (5). She is busy balancing career and motherhood and loves living in Maine. She has been named the Medical Director at Sugarloaf and the Director of Orthopedic Surgery at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, ME. Despite her hip fusion, which is now 14 years old, she enjoys playing full court basketball twice a week.

Kevin Plancher '91
was nominated as a Top Doctor by Connecticut Magazine in 2003. Also was nominated for the Richard Casperi Award for "Spinoglenoid Ligament: Anatomy, Morphology, Histology with Clinical Correlations."

Jeffery Klein '92
lives with wife Barb. They have two children Alexander (10) and Ian (8).

Brian Snyder '92
is the Director of the Cerebral Palsy Clinic at the Children's Hospital in Boston, MA. He is also the Director, Orthopedic Biomechanics Laboratory at BIDMC and a member of the Orthopedic Study Section at the NIH. He is married to Sharon Brown and they have two children, Chloe (7) and Jared (3).

*David Coran '95
has three children-Alyson 8, Danny 6 Jacob 4. He is active in tennis and doing great. He is currently practicing spinal surgery in Milwaukee, WI and is looking for spinal surgeon associate. Interested persons are invited to contact him at davidcoran@yahoo.com.

and his wife Elizabeth adopted a little girl from China last year. Her name is Zoe. This brings their children to three ...and counting.

Peter Kloen '97
is the Chief of Orthopedic Trauma in the AMC, Jim O'Holleran, Ajeya Joshi, and Arun Ramappa at the 2003 AAOS Annual Meeting. Amsterdam, Holland. He is currently a "Visiting Scientist" at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. In September 2002, his wife Dana deliver their first son Tymen Alexander.

Sigurd Berven '98
has three children-Benjamin Torvald Berven, Christopher George Berven and Alistair Hawkins Bervin.

Paul Benoit '99
recently opened his own solo practice doing general orthopedic surgery and specializing in lower extremity reconstruction & lower extremity trauma.

Martha Murray '99
and husband, Mike had a baby boy, Joe, in March 2002. Was awarded the New England Orthopedic Society Kilfoyle Award for her work studying the death rate of cartilage cells after intra-articular fracture (Murray, Zurakowski, Vrahas). She continues her ACL research work with support from the NIH & NFL.

Kenneth Sabbag '99
married Maggie Heflin in September 2002. They recently bought a house in Los Angeles & adopted 3 kittens. He is currently working in group practice at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in LA.

is currently staff at Tufts New England Medical Center - he specializes in Sports Medicine.
