On a crisp, chilly Thanksgiving morning, the residents,
fellows, attendings, and alumni of the Harvard Combined
Orthopaedic Residency Program gathered to compete in the
highly anticipated return of the Turkey Bowl. Dr. Jesse Jupiter
graciously organized and hosted the Turkey Bowl and postgame
breakfast at his home. Known for its spirit of competition,
this year's match ignited its typical pre-game predictions.
The attending and fellow team came to compete and put up a
strong fight. Dr. Mitch Harris' and Dr. Mark Vrahas' children
helped contribute to their effort. Dr. Jamie Monica, hand
surgery fellow, called the plays as quarterback for the attending
and fellow team. The residents, who had been looking
forward to the challenge, rallied in numbers. Dr. Jared Lee,
who previously played for Brigham Young University, served
as quarterback for the resident team. While both sides played
strong and converted many impressive plays, in the end the
residents emerged victorious. The post-game tradition of
bagels and beer was enjoyed at the home of Dr. Jupiter. Both
teams have already started pre-season conditioning, looking
forward to next year's rematch.
